BRAHMS

“Perhaps the highest praise is that, far from being the arduous progress through an obstacle course that the Variations often seem, this performance is a seamless traversal of variegated terrain, effortlessly accomplished, emerging finally as a showcase for artistic finesse rather than technical display."
Editor's Choice - Gramophone, November 2019

“a performance that balances dazzling virtuosity with exquisite delicacy.”

PADEREWSKI + GODOWSKI

"the Argentinian pianist seems to be carried along by a vast impulse which makes him surpass himself, expressing himself with that nobility and elegance that we love so much about him."
- Pianiste , September 2019

Gilles Ledure, the boss of Flagey, cannot help but praise the Argentine pianist: "Today, we have either great virtuosos who lack personality or pianists who have developed a very particular way of interpreting a particular repertoire. But Nelson is something else. To say Goerner, today, is like saying Horowitz, Barenboim or Brendel. He is one of those who is never wrong, or very rarely. He is of that calibre and, what is more, has sincerity, generosity and a total absence of narcissism. I look forward to his Chopin, am awaiting his Schubert, as well as the day when he will record even more major works in the repertoire. This is the mark of the greats."

CHOPIN Nocturnes

5* / 5* "Goerner's Chopin was special right from the start of his career, but it has matured into something remarkable now..."
- BBC Music Magazine, Instrumental Choice, January 2018

“What a phenomenal artist! Each of Nelson Goerner's accomplishments is almost certainly a milestone. […] Here the pianist is, once again, majestic: a versatility of touch capable of every nuance; a superb range of colours that allows him to vary the mood from here until eternity; refined lines in turn lyrical and modest… everything comes together to make this a recording of reference."
- Cadences, November 2017

“The lyrical and refined playing of the Argentine Nelson Goerner…. A double album as poetic and luminous as the full moon at night.”

“The fluidity with which he performs the harmonic bases of the arpeggiated accompaniments, contrasts with a beautiful song-like line that he handles with an excellent sense of expression. It is complete with perfectly integrated ornamentations that, with slight fluctuations and a great richness of articulation, obtain their true value as an intensifying element."
- Ritmo , July 2018

"Du très grand art"
"Of the highest art"

“The Argentine pianist Nelson Goerner shows himself to be a most sensitive interpreter of the Chopin Nocturnes”
- RBB Public Radio

FAURÉ / FRANCK Violin Sonatas

“Pianist Nelson Goerner’s opening statement in Fauré’s first sonata is passionate, free and probing[…..] this is a performance of subtlety and confidence.”
- BBC Music Magazine 4*/4*, December 2017

“Pianist Nelson Goerner and violinist Tedi Papavrami clinch the muscular, urgent nature of the music as well as its sensitivity and flux; the rigour and classicism as well as the whimsy.”
“The lyrical and refined playing of the Argentine Nelson Goerner…. A double album as poetic and luminous as the full moon at night.”

“Phrases are imbued with life and meaning […...] Savour the riches!”
- Gramophone, October 2016

5*/5* “Ideally played"
- BBC Music Magazine, November 2016

"Here we have an ideal 'Hammerklavier', as such we haven't known on record for a very long time. It's probably one of the best ever versions, and forms part of an abundant discography."
- ResMusica

"Other recordings are left way behind"
- Pianist magazine (UK), Editor's Choice

"This is wonderful, and not the first time I have been very impressed by Nelson Goerner’s pianism……..I can’t think of a pianist who sounds less challenged by this music’s technical demands."
- Fanfare

"We knew he was a great Romantic. He now confirms himself as a master of the Classical repertoire”
- FranceMusique

“Nelson Goerner, already nicknamed by many as "the poet of the piano", confirms with every performance that his nickname could not be more appropriate.”
- LQM La Quinta de Mahler

CHOPIN Preludes

“The Berceuse plays in free form, with an equally dreamy irregularity. His ornaments possess just the necessary amount of capriciousness, with the waltzing levity of dissonant harmonies evoking the spirit of a music box.”

"Sophisticated colourist and cerebral virtuoso, Nelson Goerner exposes the flaws, the hesitations, the darts of passion in Chopin's labyrinth"
- Diapason d'Or, December 2015

"This Argentinian pianist possesses artistry of a very high order... Goerner purveys poetry as natural as breathing".
- 5* BBC Music Magazine, March 2016

"5* Nelson Goerner never makes a bad recording! Every one of his releases has been a revelation on its own terms, and his rock-solid musicianship never fails to impress."
- Pianist (UK), January 2017

MARTUCCI / PADEREWSKI album

Diapason d'Or 2016
"Two virtuoso frescoes of late Romanticism have found their hero. Nelson Goerner playing Martucci ... reminds us that he is today one of the greatest performers of Rachmaninov."

"Majestic in Chopin, unquestionable in Debussy, at 46, the Argentinian pianist Nelson Goerner is one of those discreet artists whose career is immense."
- Le Monde

SCHUMANN album

BBC Music Magazine: Recording of the month (March 2015)
“Here is yet another account of the overplayed, over-recorded Schumann Etudes Symphoniques– but this one is seriously excellent … Goerner’s flexibility with rubato helps to strike a fine balance between contrast and logic between contrast and pacing, while also creating an engaging hint of “golden age” qualities.”

“Stunning Schumann playing from Nelson Goerner. His Kreisleriana is among the finest ever recorded, and the Symphonic Studies – with the posthumous studies inserted organically – also receive a sovereign interpretation. One of the finest Schumann releases this year.”
- Pianist (UK), July 2015

"It took me no longer than a minute to realize, upon hearing the opening strains of this recording, that I was in the presence of a very great pianist indeed. Such breathtaking musicianship, wed to a huge heart and a humanitarian spirit, is not something that crosses one's path every day. To say the experience was humbling is an understatement.. "
- Fanfare March, April 2015

DEBUSSY album

Diapason de l'Or de l'Année
« un poète doublé d'un orfèvre »
"A poet who is also a goldsmith"

"We find here what has always seduced us about this pianist of integrity: a richness, a culture of sound and an energy that results in a sense of urgency and necessity to go into the depths of these works.”
- Le Soir
